proHNS LLC is hiring a Civil/Environmental Engineer in Sitka, AK, for candidates with 3-5 years of experience. This position involves participation in a diverse range of interesting and challenging projects that will enhance your skills in private subdivision and site development, environmental mitigation and permitting, as well as the design of municipal infrastructure. You will learn to collaborate with surveyors, planners, and various engineering disciplines on construction plans, estimates, and specifications. Most of our projects encompass all aspects of civil and environmental engineering design, allowing you to follow projects during construction while providing onsite inspections and contract administration. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to occasionally travel within Alaska to support projects in remote areas. Keys to Success:
• Perform duties and responsibilities in accordance with proHNS policies and procedures.
• Coordinate with a team of engineers, inspectors, sub-consultants, and other representatives.
• Conduct engineering calculations to support civil engineering design projects.
• Execute civil site, utility, stormwater, transportation, and construction engineering tasks.
• Engage in environmental engineering and permitting processes.
• Perform CAD drafting in support of engineering projects.
• Design and analyze projects using AutoCAD Civil 3D, EPANET, HEC-RAS, and other software.
• Conduct periodic site visits to construction sites to monitor work quality and progress.
• Draft project correspondence, technical specifications, and engineering reports.
• Tabulate construction bid quantities from plans and specifications and estimate construction costs.
• Exhibit proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite applications.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field.
• Engineer in Training (EIT) certification, or ability to obtain within 1 year.
• Alternatively, a 2-year technical degree or associate degree in a related field plus a minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience may be acceptable.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and other engineering software applications is preferred.
• Strong written and verbal English skills are necessary for effective communication with clients, coworkers, and contractors.
• A valid U.S. drivers license and a good driving record are required.
Expectations:
• The typical work schedule is 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Employees should be willing to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and overtime as needed, and attend after-hour events such as local government public meetings.
• Ability to work seamlessly in a team setting with staff located outside of the designated office.
• Willingness and capability to perform site visits and construction inspections in various outdoor conditions and climates.
• Occasional travel away from home for a few days to a few weeks at a time via commercial airlines, smaller airplanes, helicopters, or boats may be necessary.
• Employees will regularly be required to sit, talk, and hear. They will also need to stand, walk, and utilize their hands for various tasks. The ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds is required. Specific vision abilities necessary for this position include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Compensation and Benefits:
Employees receive a competitive benefits package, including access to our Medical Insurance plans, with the employer covering 100% of the employee's plan. Employees are eligible to participate in our company 401(k) plan, with up to a 4% contribution from the employer. Additional benefits include paid time off and eight paid holidays. proHNS also covers expenses associated with licensure and provides an annual performance bonus. The wage range for this position is $40-$50 per hour/ DOE.
This position will work from a home office in Sitka, Alaska with occasional site visits.
