The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT), Division of Transportation System Development (DTSD), is recruiting for a Civil Engineer - Transportation Advanced position within the Bureau of Project Development (BPD). This role can be based in one of our 10 offices across the state: Eau Claire, Green Bay, Madison, Milwaukee, LaCrosse, Rhinelander, Superior, Waukesha, or Wisconsin Rapids.

Our team plays a crucial role in maintaining and improving nearly 12,000 miles of state highways and bridges used by millions of people. You'll work with a talented team of professionals from various backgrounds, including engineering, planning, environmental services, public outreach, real estate, finance, and more.

This role provides advice, guidance, and direction to bureaus and regions on asset management matters. The successful candidate will advance department goals by using data-driven project management and asset management concepts, practical design, and performance measures for planning and design of the states multi-modal transportation program. They will also ensure consistency across all areas of the division regarding implementing, training, testing, and refining the department's asset management approach for data collection techniques and decision support systems. Decisions require engineering knowledge and expertise and interpretation while advancing innovative approaches to problem solving and research of best practices.

This position is in schedule-range 14-13 with an annual salary of $90,064 - $108,950, plus excellent benefits. A twelve-month probationary period is required. Pay for current state employees will be set in accordance with the Wisconsin State Compensation Plan.

This role offers a hybridized work schedule, requiring two days of work per week at DTSD offices and three days of telework from within the state of Wisconsin. Occasional statewide travel with overnight stays may be required.

Qualified candidates must have a valid Professional Engineering registration and be able to obtain a Wisconsin PE registration within 3 months if PE registration is from another state.
