Job Description

The City of Edmonton is seeking a skilled City Planning and Transportation Engineer to join their team. As a key member of the Planning Coordination Unit, you will apply your knowledge of transportation engineering and planning to identify transportation requirements related to land use changes and make recommendations that impact the city.

This role supports the implementation of the City Plan, focusing on planning and optimizing transportation infrastructure to meet the needs of a growing and complex city. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to improve your understanding of broader considerations in urban planning.

Key Responsibilities:
• Apply knowledge of transportation engineering principles to land development applications.
• Develop and implement effective transportation strategies to meet the needs of the city.
• Prepare and document findings in written responses, including council reports and public inquiries.
• Liaise with other City departments and external agencies to prepare integrated planning and engineering recommendations.

Requirements:
• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Transportation Engineering.
• Minimum four years of progressively responsible related engineering work experience.
• Professional Engineer (P.Eng) registration with APEGA required.
• Experience with preparing and evaluating land development applications and transportation impact assessments.
