Job Description
The California Conservation Corps is hiring a full-time Conservationist I in Riverside, CA, to supervise a Type I Fire Crew and positively impact youth through environmental restoration projects. The position requires physical stamina for arduous tasks in the Cleveland National Forest. This is a permanent, in-office role focused on community service and conservation efforts.

Working Conditions
Duties will be performed at the Los Piños Center located at 39251 Ortega Hwy, Lake Elsinore, CA. The campus is remotely located within the Cleveland National Forest.
Physical requirements for this classification are arduous: Requires lifting objects weighing 50 lbs or more, often in combination with pushing, pulling, bending, stooping, squatting, grabbing, carrying, kneeling, twisting, and reaching at or above shoulder level. Includes standing and walking for extended periods of time; irregular work surfaces, and ability to hike difficult terrain. May require working extended hours and in remote areas as a Crew Supervisor on a Type I Fire Crew

Career Consultation
California Conservation Corps is excited to take part in the first agency-wide collaborative physical career center. The career center is located in the heart of Downtown Sacramento in the brand new CNRA headquarters building. Services provided include one-on-one career consultations, application/resume review, career guidance, mock interviews, and tips for applying.

Special Requirements
Class C Commercial License – Provide evidence that a Class C Commercial license with a Passenger Transport Vehicle special endorsement has been obtained from the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV).
Pre-employment Drug Test – In accordance with the Federal Highway Administration regulations (49 CFR, Part 382), persons hired to a class requiring a commercial driver license must take and pass a pre-employment drug test.
Background Investigation – Undergo fingerprinting and successfully pass a Criminal Offender Record Information check completed by the Department of Justice (DOJ) which may or may not also include a background check through the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI).
Medical Exam - A medical clearance exam is required for this classification.
Grooming Standards- Must be in compliance with Los Piños Center grooming standards. (A copy of the Grooming standards will be provided upon appointment).
Note- Candidates will be required to pass the following trainings upon appointment
CalFire Type I Fire Training Program- Position requires successful completion of the CalFire Type I 80-hour Fire training program. This includes a vigorous physical fitness portion of the training.
