Job Description

The Nevada Department of Wildlife is hiring a Biologist 1 - Fisheries in Elko, NV. The role involves conducting fisheries and habitat management projects, data collection, and assisting in the recovery of Lahontan Cutthroat Trout and Bull Trout populations. The position requires collaboration with other biologists and participation in public relations activities. This is a full-time, trainee-level position focused on implementing conservation objectives.
Biologists conduct fisheries, wildlife and/or habitat management projects and research studies including data collection, analysis and interpretation; develop and implement project proposals and work plans; prepare recommendations; and participate in public relations activities. Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation. The incumbent will be responsible for primarily assisting in the management and recovery of ESA listed Lahontan Cutthrout Trout (LCT) and Bull Trout populations and their habitats in the Humboldt and Reese Management Units (LCT) and the Upper Snake Geographic Management Unit (Bull Trout) by implementing the field work objectives developed in annual work plans.
