Bicycle Transit Systems is seeking a full-time Bicycle Repair Technician in Santa Barbara, CA. Responsibilities include inspecting, maintaining, and repairing bicycles in the shop and field. Location: Santa Barbara, CA

Job Type: Full Time, Non-exempt

Schedule: 32 hours per week, 4 days per week, Monday - Thursday 9:00 am - 5:30 pm

The Bicycle Repair Technician will be responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and repairing bicycles both in our shop and in the field. This position also requires battery swapping, bike assembly, and various operational tasks as needed, often in outdoor settings with public exposure and possible inclement weather. Previous bike mechanic experience is preferred, and a background in urban riding is a must. Although comprehensive training on our bicycle maintenance will be provided, a solid foundation in mechanically inclined environments is required. Work under the guidance of the Operations Supervisor.Become an expert on all operational aspects of the bike share fleet.Perform safety checks and repairs both in the field and in the shop.Repair bicycles to company specifications as needed.Diagnose E-bike issues using diagnostic tools.Manage inventory of parts and tools in the shop and on the cargo bike.Conduct in-field repairs as required.Perform basic repairs and maintenance on cargo bikes when necessary.Engage with the public in a friendly and professional manner while in the field.Balance time between working in the shop and performing fieldwork.Maintain accurate service records for all repairs completed.Complete other duties as assigned.Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

High School diploma or GED is required.Bicycle mechanic experience is preferred.Valid driver's license with a clean driving record is necessary.Experience in bike share programs is a plus.Proficiency with computers and willingness to learn new software is essential.Demonstrated technical and mechanical aptitude, critical thinking, and innovation.Ability to troubleshoot E-Bike specific issues.Ability to manage a repair schedule effectively.Strong attention to detail is crucial.A positive attitude and self-motivation are essential.Ability to work collaboratively in a small team and enjoy achieving goals together.Physical Requirements and Special Demands: The physical demands described here represent those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Comfortable riding an e-bike in busy urban areas. The role also involves warehouse and some office work as needed.Must be able to bend, stoop, and lift materials weighing up to 65 pounds.This is a full-time position expected to work 32 hours per week (4 days, 8 hours per day). Some additional hours, including nights and weekends, may be required.This role necessitates clear communication abilities, understanding spoken instructions, visual acuity for close tasks, and the capacity to remain in a standing or seated position for extended periods.We are an equal opportunity employer.
