Cubico Sustainable Investments is seeking an Associate for their European Origination and Execution team in the UK. The role involves building financial models, supporting business development, and participating in transaction processes for renewable energy projects. Candidates should have a strong academic background in relevant fields and experience in financial modeling and M&A. The position is based in London and offers opportunities for career development.
We are looking for an Associate to join the European Origination and Execution team at Cubico. The Associate role plays a key part in supporting the senior investment professionals in the firm. The core pillar of the role is to build and maintain complex financial models to support investment transactions.

The Associate will support business development with fast, focussed analysis and judge the right level of detail required for each decision. Additionally, the Associate will be involved in the various transaction and financing processes, be it acquisitions or the commercialisation of our own development projects.

Based from our London headquarters, you will be part of a dynamic team and will be given a great deal of responsibility and opportunity to develop your career over time. The role requires a proactive, inquisitive and flexible mindset.

Key Responsibilities:
• Prepare financial models for the development, acquisition and project financing of renewable energy projects based on project-specific characteristics and assumptions.
• Assist in the preparation of investment committee presentations for new opportunities.
• Support due diligence review of potential new investment opportunities.
• Analyse and compare investment opportunities, utilizing discounted cash flow.
• Review and assist in the negotiation of investment legal documentation.
• Liaise with external advisers and intermediaries.
• Initial quantitative and qualitative appraisal of transactions to establish whether specific investment opportunities are worth pursuing.
• Research and analysis of industry information, technical and financial data.

• Head of O&E EMEA
• Head of Financial Analysis
• Country Heads in Europe
• Other Functional Departments especially the Legal Team, Finance Team & the Technical Team

Desired qualifications and personal attributes include:
• The ideal candidate will have an academic background in Mathematics, Engineering, Finance or similar degrees.
• Strong academic background.
• Excellent financial modeller – able to construct models from scratch, operate and manage them.
• Demonstrable execution and M&A experience in renewable energy or Infrastructure.
• Familiarity with project finance structures and process.
• Experience in corporate finance / accountancy is desirable.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy with excellent analytical skills.
• Entrepreneurial mindset, proactive and flexible.
• Practical and commercial approach.
• Ability to manage multiple and shifting priorities.
• Team player able to thrive in a cross-cultural environment.
• Fluency in any other European language is a plus.
