Job Description
The University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science is hiring an Assistant Research Scientist for the Global Nitrogen Innovation Center. The role involves developing data and modeling tools to assess the feasibility and environmental impacts of innovative agricultural technologies like green ammonia. Candidates should have a PhD (or expected soon), a strong publication record, and experience in computer-based modeling. Experience with Life Cycle Assessment or Techno-economic Analysis is preferred.
Job Description
The Global Nitrogen Innovation Center for Clean Energy and the Environment ( NICCEE ) is seeking a motivated researcher to develop data and modeling tools for assessing the feasibility and environmental impacts of innovative technologies, such as green ammonia, in agricultural production systems. The selected candidate will work with an interdisciplinary research team at NICCEE and collaborate closely with stakeholders and technology innovators to co-develop the assessment. NICCEE , spearheaded by the University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science ( UMCES ) with key partners in the U.S., Canada, and the UK, is jointly funded by the U.S. National Science Foundation, UK Research and Innovation, and Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada. The global center seeks to harness the technological innovation of green ammonia production and other agricultural innovations to bolster clean energy initiatives, combat climate change, and secure food supplies for the future, while minimizing risks of unintended consequences. The successful applicant must have (1) a PhD in a related field (or expected within the next 6 months), (2) a strong publication record relative to their career stage, and (3) significant experience with computer-based modeling. Experience with Life Cycle Assessment ( LCA ) and/or Techno-economic Analysis ( TEA ) is preferred, but not required.

Preferred Qualifications
