Job Description
The Wildlife Trust of India is seeking an Assistant/Field Officer (Biologist) with a Master's in Marine Biology to manage a marine wet-laboratory, assess marine life, and construct artificial reefs. Responsibilities include project management, financial compliance, external communication, and data organization. The role requires scuba diving skills and involves collaboration with project teams. This is a full-time position based in Bihta, Bihar, India.
Qualification Requirement
Masters in Marine Biology
Experience Required
0-5 years
Key Responsibilities
• Manage and maintain the marine wet-laboratory, ensuring all equipment is operational
and safe.
• Assess the health and development of corals and marine life and analyse the data
collected
• Undertake the installation of the biorocks, its periodic inspection and maintenance
• Undertake the construction and monitoring of artificial reefs and coral gardens.
• Conduct other field activities in line with the activities planned
Project Management
• Ensure compliance with safety protocols and statutory diving requirements.
• Collaborate with all the project team members to coordinate tasks and responsibilities,
ensuring implementation, clear communication and accountability.
Fund & Financial Management
• Ensure all financial transactions comply with organizational policies and statutory
requirements.
• Coordinate with the finance department to ensure timely disbursement of funds and
reconciliation of accounts.
• Provide inputs and ideas to the Project Manager for the preparation of funding
proposals and grant applications.
External Communication / Co-ordination
• Work in collaboration with the Communications Division for the development of
content for social media platforms, the project website, newsletters and other digital
channels based on the activities being undertaken.
MIS & Reports
• Collect, organise and maintain records of all the project related data and documents
for repository and inventory purposes.
• Prepare donor reports and coordinate donor visits to project sites and any other donor
servicing that may be required
Any Other Responsibilities
• Participate in training sessions and workshops to enhance skills and knowledge
relevant to project activities.
• Work collaboratively with other project teams to promote research, community
engagement, and conservation in order to align efforts and share knowledge and
resources.
• Undertake any other work assigned by the team and/or Organisation
