Job Description

ICF International is seeking a Summer Intern for 2025 in Sustainable Mobility, focusing on sustainable transportation and air quality. About the position

ICF is a global consulting firm that specializes in addressing complex planning, policy, and program issues at the intersection of transportation, the environment, energy, and communities. The Transportation Portfolio at ICF focuses on providing solutions that support sustainable transportation decisions, considering mobility, safety, environmental, social, and economic impacts. The firm works with various government entities, including the U.S. Department of Transportation, state transportation agencies, and metropolitan planning organizations, to deliver strategic planning, research, policy analysis, training, and program evaluation services. We are currently seeking a Summer Intern for 2025 in Sustainable Mobility. This internship is designed for individuals with a keen interest in sustainable transportation and air quality. The intern will assist with targeted employer and community engagement on various projects, primarily supporting initiatives in New York State, with potential opportunities to engage in projects at the federal level or in other states. The role involves facilitating multimodal mobility programs that encourage behavioral changes in travelers through innovative technologies. The intern will be expected to engage with individuals through phone and video calls, community events, and presentations, promoting sustainable transportation modes such as ridesharing, microtransit, and electric vehicles. The internship is full-time for 10 weeks, starting in early June 2025 and concluding in early August. The position will be hybrid, ideally based in one of ICF's New York state offices, but other locations may be considered. The intern may need to travel for meetings and events, which could require occasional evening or weekend hours.

Responsibilities
• Assist with fostering relationships with individuals at various employers or organizations.
,
• Attend meetings and public events to promote programs and strategies focusing on sustainable transportation modes.
,
• Support client initiatives and promote sustainable mobility options.
,
• Prospect potential promotional opportunities and build relationships with new stakeholders.
,
• Meet key deliverables through engagement with stakeholders, including employers, universities, municipalities, and community organizations.
,
• Help facilitate virtual and on-site meetings and engagement events with stakeholders.
,
• Travel to stakeholder worksites to support client initiatives, potentially 1-3 days per week.
,
• Prepare accurate and timely activity reports on a weekly and monthly basis.
,
• Assist with Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) management.

Requirements
• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Sustainability, Environmental Science or related subjects (anticipated graduation of August 2025 or later).

• Demonstrated interest or background in transportation and environmental issues.
,
• Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite and comfortable using digital technology.
,
• Excellent oral and written communication skills; outgoing and personable, comfortable speaking in groups or one-on-one settings.

• Experience conducting independent research and producing high-quality documents.
,
• Ability to work on multiple projects under strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

• Community engagement or sales experience.
,
• Consulting experience, specifically working with clients in the public sector.

• General understanding of public transportation systems.
,
• Capable of organizing own schedule to balance time needed for prospecting, relationship-building, meetings, and events.
