Zookeeping, Educ. Animal Care & Conservation Education Internships Fall 2025

The Elmwood Park Zoo is offering Fall 2025 internships in Zookeeping, Education Animal Care, and Conservation Education in Norristown, PA. Interns will gain hands-on experience with exotic animals, engage with guests, and complete a Conservation Education Project. Internships involve caring for animals like goats and sheep, and participating in interactive experiences. Note that no internships involve direct work with big cats.
Elmwood Park Zoo offers 3 different animal care Internships, The Education Ambassador Animal Care (AMB), the Conservation Education (CE) and the Zookeeping (ZK). All 3 Elmwood Park Zoo internships provide interns with some level of hands-on exotic animal care experience. Please note that no EPZ internships provide the opportunity to work directly with our big cats. For those exploring animal careers, the CE internship offers an introduction to the conservation career world and introductory exotic animal care experience caring for our Goats, Sheep and Chickens in our Barn directly alongside keeper staff. CE Interns also spend their shifts inspiring conservation by directly engaging guests at exhibits, and in Elmwood Park Zoo’s Interactive Animal Experiences, including our Daily Giraffe Feedings, Bison feedings, Barn Contact Yard, and Walk through experience Harmony Hideaway.
