The Utah Department of Natural Resources is hiring Wildlife Technician I for seasonal positions in Springville, UT. Responsibilities include habitat restoration, managing invasive species, and maintaining wildlife properties. Candidates should have a background in biology or wildlife science, be at least 18 years old, and possess a valid driver's license. The role requires physical stamina and outdoor work in various conditions.
The Utah Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Division of Wildlife Resources, has three seasonal (non-benefited) positions available in Springville, Utah. We are looking for motivated individuals to support habitat restoration and property management within the Central Region.
JOB DUTIES
The primary responsibility of this position is to support UDWR habitat restoration efforts by eradicating noxious weeds across various Wildlife Management Areas (WMAs). Additional duties include:
Assisting with habitat improvement projects, such as building and repairing wildlife guzzlers.
Planting native vegetation and constructing wildlife-specific fencing.
Maintaining DWR-owned properties, including decommissioning illegal trails and fence maintenance.
Operating herbicide spray equipment to manage invasive species.
JOB REQUIREMENTS AND SKILLS
The successful candidate will have a foundational education in biology or a background in wildlife science, range management, or a closely related field.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Possess a valid driver’s license at the time of employment.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Experience:
Wildlife or habitat-related fieldwork.
Operating ATVs and 4-wheel drive vehicles.
Towing and backing trailers.
Basic shop skills (e.g., welding and general equipment maintenance).
This role involves significant physical exertion. Candidates must be able to stand, walk over uneven terrain, bend, crouch, and reach for extended periods. The position requires the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. on a recurring basis and work outdoors in extreme weather conditions.
