Additional graduate coursework may substitute for the required experience on a year‑for‑year basis, up to one year. Must possess a valid motor vehicle operator’s license at the time of appointment in positions. State Driver Standards: Must hold a valid driver’s license and, for the past five years, have no record of DUI, reckless driving, license suspension for moving violations, or more than four moving violations. Overview Under general supervision, responsible for professional wildlife management or wildlife biology work of considerable difficulty and supervisory work of average difficulty in the planning, supervision, and coordination of wildlife management practices over a large geographic area or conducting statewide or regional wildlife biological surveys. The employee supervises and participates in a variety of activities associated with wildlife, wildlife lands, fish or fish and wildlife management, including program planning, coordination, and evaluation, biological studies, and consultation on specialty areas such as endangered species, fisheries, non‑game and game animals, fur‑bearing animals, waterfowl, and water resources and pollution. Responsibilities Plan, supervise, and coordinate the implementation of projects and programs to optimize wildlife habitat development in a large geographic area and analyze and interpret biological and sociological data to make recommendations. Project budget needs for proposed programs or operational changes to establish appropriate funding and implementation guidelines. Generate a variety of reporting and plans, including annual budget reports, project accomplishment reports, grant reports, quarterly reports, monthly activity reports, education reports, program management plans, strategic plans, special legislative reports, and external reporting as required. Lead conservation work associated with species or groups, working with research institutions to collect and analyze data and conduct scientific research for protection and recovery of listed species statewide. Coordinate with federal and local government on mutual programs and projects, monitoring project progress to ensure compatibility with and accomplishment of agency goals and objectives.
