Job Description
The Wildlife Trust of India is hiring an Assistant Field Officer – Wildlife Ecologist to conduct field surveys for gharial populations, analyze data with statistical methods and GIS software, and assist in conservation planning. Candidates should have an MSc/PG Diploma in Wildlife Science or related fields, with 2-3 years of experience. Strong data analysis and communication skills are required. This is a full-time position based in India.
Job Overview
The Wildlife Trust of India seeks a highly motivated and experienced Assistant Field Officer – Wildlife Ecologist to join its team. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting field surveys to monitor gharial populations, analyzing data using statistical methods and GIS software, and assisting in the development and implementation of conservation plans and management strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct field surveys to monitor gharial and other aquatic faunal populations, including population counts, nesting site surveys, and habitat assessments.
• Analyze data collected from field surveys and research studies, using statistical methods and GIS software to assess population trends, habitat use, and threats to gharial populations.
• Assist in the development and implementation of conservation plans and management strategies to mitigate direct and indirect threats to Gandak gharial populations.
Requirements:
• MSc/PG Diploma in Wildlife Science/Biology/Zoology or related fields with 2-3 years of experience in wildlife research and conservation.
• Experience in ex-situ conservation of crocodilian/testudine species is desirable.
• Proficiency in data analysis software (e.g., R, SPSS) and GIS tools for spatial analysis and mapping.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders, including scientists, policymakers, and local communities.
• Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
