Job Description
The State of Louisiana is hiring a Wildlife and Fisheries Technician A-C for hands-on work primarily on Wildlife Management Areas (WMAs) in Krotz Springs, LA. Responsibilities include operating heavy equipment, wildlife management activities, and data collection. The role requires physical exertion and may involve irregular hours, including weekends and overnight stays. No prior experience is necessary, and the position is part of a career progression group.

WILDLIFE AND FISHERIES TECHNICIAN A-C/ SHERBURNE
This position will perform daily operations primarily on WMAs within region, and elsewhere as needed. This position requires the physical ability to operate boats, ATV/UTVs, tractors, motor-grader, and other heavy equipment. Physical demands are moderate to strenuous physical exertion is required for such activities as climbing, lifting objects over 50 pounds, crouching or crawling in restricted areas or in inclement weather. Periodically working irregular hours including weekend work, overnight stay, and early morning departure as well as day and night work in boats and airboats is required. May be subject to 24-hour call.
No experience or training is required.

Job Duties:
Participates in necessary construction and maintenance activities on department buildings, grounds, roads, levees, equipment, camping areas, and water control structuresParticipates in management activities including planting food plots, conducting prescribed burns, boundary marking, and managed hunts Collects data used in establishing management or research programs and setting regulationsParticipates in lethal and nonlethal collection and sampling of wildlife species for management and researchTransports injured or nuisance animalsPerforms any other duties as directed and necessary for the agency to accomplish its mission Requires the physical ability to operate boats, ATV/UTVs, tractors, motor-grader, and other heavy equipment. POSITION- SPECIFIC DETAILS:
This position will be domiciled in Pointe Coupee Parish.
Appointment Type: Job appointment, probational appointment, promotional, or detail to special duty.
Career Progression: This position participates in a Career Progression Group (CPG) and is advertised as a Wildlife and Fisheries Technician A, B, or C.
