About the position

The Wildland Restoration Team Leader at Montana Conservation Corps is responsible for overseeing a crew of 3-4 adult members on various conservation projects across Montana. This role focuses on habitat restoration, invasive species management, and climate change initiatives, providing participants with hands-on experience in natural resource conservation. The position emphasizes leadership development, personal growth, and the acquisition of practical job skills in a supportive environment.

Responsibilities
• Oversee 3-4 adult crew members on 4-9 day overnight conservation projects.

• Facilitate crew member growth and manage conflict within the crew.

• Support the crew in completing quality project work in the field.

• Lead crews in managing invasive plants through mechanical, chemical, and biological efforts.
,
• Apply herbicide to manage invasive weeds and ensure safe use and transport of chemicals.

• Participate in a leadership development program to enhance leadership skills and technical capabilities.
,
• Engage in various conservation projects including stream restoration, beaver-dam mimicry, and trail building.

Requirements
• Ages 18-35 (21 or over preferred).

• Ability to work in remote locations and varied terrain in all weather conditions.
