Job Description
Resource Options is hiring a Wetland Scientist in Quincy, MA. The role involves conducting wetland delineations, wildlife assessments, and compliance with environmental regulations. Candidates should have 2-8 years of relevant experience and a degree in environmental science or a related field. Strong fieldwork skills and the ability to work independently are essential. The position may require fieldwork in remote locations and challenging conditions.
As a Wetlands Scientist, you will conduct wetland delineations, wildlife habitat assessments, and rare species surveys, while developing permit strategies and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal wetland regulations. The role involves preparing technical reports, performing environmental monitoring, and providing construction oversight on various projects. Strong field experience, knowledge of environmental regulations, and the ability to work independently are essential for this position.
Responsibilities:
• Conduct wetland delineations, wildlife habitat evaluations, and rare species surveys.
• Develop permit strategies with project team for projects in various market sectors.
• Conduct federal, state, and local wetland related permitting efforts.
• Develop and/or review technical reports and documents.
• Perform construction oversight and environmental monitoring.
Skills and Abilities
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects on short deadlines.
• Ability to interact with clients.
• Ability to delineate wetland resource areas independently.
Qualifications:
• Must have 2-8 years of wetland experience.
• B.S. in environmental science, natural resources, wetland science, or a related field is required.
• Demonstrated experience with local, state, and federal wetland regulations in Massachusetts.
• Experience in other New England states is preferred.
• Must have the ability to conduct tasks independently.
• Expertise in identifying plants, insects, birds, reptiles, and/or amphibians.
• This is NOT a lab position, professional field experience is required
• Certifications such as WPIT, PWS, CWS, RPSS, CPESC are a plus.
• Ability to use and make maps with GIS is preferred.
This position may involve working in remote field locations, and may include night/weekend shifts, and/or working in challenging weather conditions. A vehicle is required. This position requires the ability to work cooperatively as part of a team.
Pay Range: $25/hr. - $40/hr (Depending on experience)
