About the position

The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC) is seeking a Water Planning Biologist to join their team in Bellefonte, PA. This role focuses on conducting project and environmental reviews to assess the impact of water use programs on aquatic life and recreational activities. Responsibilities
• Conduct project and environmental reviews to evaluate the impact of water use programs on aquatic life and recreational activities.

• Review water allocation permits, public notices, and hydropower license applications.

• Conduct instream flow studies and biological surveys related to reviews.

• Collect and analyze biological and hydrological data.

• Prepare technical reports and provide written and oral comments based on technical expertise.

• Collaborate with the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection and other federal agencies on water allocation permit applications.

Requirements
• One year of experience as a Fisheries Biologist 1, PFBC, or equivalent experience conducting fish studies or research.

• A bachelor's degree in biological science with 12 college credits in relevant fisheries science or aquatic ecology courses.

• Valid driver's license.
