The Water Conservation Data Technician role at an unclassified company in Imperial, CA, is a temporary to hire position. About the position
The Water Conservation Data Technician position is a temporary to hire contract role based in Imperial, CA. Under general supervision, the technician will be responsible for investigating field sites to ensure compliance with district programs. This includes the installation, calibration, and maintenance of mechanical and electronic data logging devices, as well as the retrieval and tracking of data. The technician will also conduct sampling and produce various reports, records, and graphs to document findings. This role is classified as the first level of the water conservation data technician classification, with the potential for progression to a higher level depending on available positions and the technician's performance. The technician will conduct technical field and site visits for planning, data collection, and measurement purposes, ensuring adherence to water department programs and district regulations. Responsibilities include operating equipment to conduct basic surveys, installing and maintaining data logging devices, and performing analyses of water and silt samples. The technician will maintain both physical and electronic logs, records, and databases, assisting in the interpretation and evaluation of field data related to irrigation and water conservation. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work independently while also being flexible to assist other personnel as needed. The technician will utilize various software tools to enter, store, manipulate, and retrieve data, generating necessary reports and visual representations of the data collected. The role may also involve preparing sketches and related information for engineering purposes as assigned.
Responsibilities
• Conducts technical field and site visits for planning, data collection, and measurement purposes, verifying compliance with water department programs and district regulations.

• Operates level and rod to conduct basic surveys of fields to verify project boundaries and set elevation references.
,
• Installs, configures, calibrates, repairs, and maintains data logging devices (mechanical and electronic), sensors, weather stations, and related structures.
,
• Meters delivery of water to calibrate data logging devices and rating of flow measuring devices or structures.
,
• Collects, receives, and performs basic analyses of water and silt samples using appropriate protocols and testing methodologies.
,
• Maintains physical and electronic logs, records, databases, and files.
,
• Assists with the interpretation and evaluation of field data, including calculations of flow, volume, turbidity, evaporation, transpiration, and other irrigation-related information.

• Operates personal computers using commercial and custom-made software to enter, store, manipulate, and retrieve data, generating records, files, graphs, and reports.

• Operates palm-top and lap-top computers and portable terminals using commercial and custom-made software to calibrate and configure electronic equipment.
