About the position

The Water and Natural Resources Scientist or Engineer will support Geosyntec's Clean Water Act (CWA) Compliance Practice, focusing on addressing water quality challenges for clients in various sectors. This role involves applying expertise in water quantity and quality monitoring, natural resource permitting, and environmental regulations to ensure compliance with state and federal laws. The position is based in either Columbus, Ohio or Jefferson City, Missouri, and requires a combination of technical skills, project management, and client interaction.

Responsibilities
• Supporting and leading projects involving CWA compliance for legal, municipal, industrial, and agricultural clients.

• Researching pending CWA related regulatory and legislative changes and evaluating impacts to clients.

• Reviewing state and federal regulations and permits pertaining to surface water and evaluating implications for clients.
,
• Managing, evaluating, and summarizing monitoring or other water quality data.
,
• Conducting in-depth data analysis using tools such as Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Power Query, and Microsoft Access.
,
• Preparing and/or reviewing technical reports, letters, memoranda, plans, presentations, and proposals.
,
• Preparing for and participating in meetings with clients, regulatory personnel, and other parties.
,
• Managing projects, business development, and mentoring staff.

Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in environmental science, water or natural resources science, environmental engineering or other relevant field (required).
,
• At least 5 years of experience in an environmental consulting environment such as surface water, environmental monitoring, and regulatory compliance or equivalent combination of advanced education and experience (required).
,
• Excellent writing and communication skills (required).
,
• The ability to travel overnight and perform work outside of Ohio/Missouri (required).
,
• Valid U.S. driver's license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel (required).

Nice-to-haves
• Advanced degree in environmental science, water or natural resources science, environmental engineering, or other relevant field (preferred).

• Professional registration/certification (e.g., CES, CPSWQ, CPESC, QDC, PE) (preferred).

• Knowledge of state and federal CWA permitting requirements (preferred).
,
• An outstanding track record for client management and technical leadership (preferred).
,
• Project experience involving environmental regulatory compliance, historical research, and environmental assessment (preferred).

• Experience working on demanding, sophisticated, and legally sensitive projects (preferred).
