Clean Harbors is actively seeking a Waste Materials Specialist (Insite Chemist) to manage, categorize, package, and evaluate chemical waste with strict adherence to Federal, State, and Local regulations, as well as our internal company policies. This role requires working both indoors and outdoors at various sites, including plants, laboratories, and customer locations. The positions primarily involve assisting with lab packs within customer facilities, managing household hazardous waste (HHW) collections, and facilitating lab relocations. As a customer-facing role, the Environmental Field Chemist will engage directly with clients in their environments daily. Please note, this position does not involve traditional laboratory work.

Key Responsibilities:
• Prioritize health and safety by following all best practices and policies.
• Prepare packing lists, labels, manifests, and disposal notifications using computers.
• Inspect staging, accumulating, and storage areas to ensure compliance with proper housekeeping procedures.
• Assess storage areas and drums for leaks or spills and ensure proper labeling compliance.
• Collect, segregate, and efficiently package waste chemicals for compliant disposal.
• Execute projects on-site at Clean Harbors customer locations, including large corporations.
• Prepare and approve all shipment projects in accordance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and company guidelines.
• Conduct jobs following specified Federal, State, and local regulations while adhering to safety plans.
• Understand specific disposal restrictions and special packaging requirements for clients.
• Sample and analyze new waste streams or any requiring testing.
• Ensure that drum counts are accurate and that conditions meet shipping standards.
• Abide by all local, state, and federal compliance regulations.
• Safely operate vehicles following all relevant regulations.
• Maintain adherence to corporate and environmental health and safety guidelines.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
• Valid driver's license.
• Excellent customer service capabilities.
• Ability to obtain a CDL Class B with hazmat and tanker endorsement within six months of employment.
• Physical stamina to perform required job functions.
• Pass a background check, drug test, and physical as needed.
• Meet facial hair standards for respiratory protection compliance.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Degree in Chemistry or a related Natural Science.
• Experience in Environmental Services (remediation, abatement, emergency spill response, etc.).
