Job Description

Townsville City Council is seeking Waste and Recycling Truck Drivers for casual positions in Townsville, Australia. Candidates must possess a current Queensland 'HR' class driver's license and will receive full training. The role involves operating waste collection vehicles and providing efficient waste services. Shifts range from 10-30 hours per week, with work hours between 5:00am - 5:00pm, seven days a week.

• LGE 2 - 4 ($35 - $36 per hour + superannuation) based on skills, qualifications and experience

About The Role

Council is establishing a casual relief pool for the purpose of supplimenting our exisiting Waste and Recycling Truck Driver team. You will be provided full training and must be willing to be flexible with shifts offered. The shifts may be between 10-30 hours per week, subject to availibility. Work hours are between 5:00am - 5:00pm, 7 days a week.

This position plays a key role in assisting with and working as part of a team to safely operate waste collection vehicles, provide and deliver an effective, timely and efficient waste collection service to customers of Townsville City Council. This position will achieve this by providing waste and recycling collection and disposal services to achieve a clean, hygienic, and aesthetically acceptable environment throughout the city of Townsville.

About You
• Current Queensland “HR” class driver’s licence.
• Display the ability to competently operate and execute driver maintenance on the waste collection vehicle/s for which this position specifies.
• Experience in waste collection.
• Demonstrated ability and experience with the operation of the range of waste collection plant used by Waste Services.
• Be able to read, comprehend and write words and numbers as part of established reporting systems commensurate with the position.
• Knowledge of servicing, prestart and closedown requirements of the plant to include truck and any attached machinery.
