Job Description

The Washington Conservation Corps Member position at AmeriCorps in Belfair, WA, involves outdoor environmental projects for young adults (ages 18-25) and veterans. Members work on trail and habitat restoration, earning a biweekly living allowance and an education award. The role includes training and health benefits. Members serve in crews, meeting at the DNR work center in Tahuya State Forest. This is a full-time, on-site position.

The Washington Conservation Corps (WCC) is an AmeriCorps program that supports young adults (ages 18-25) and military veterans as they jumpstart their careers in the environmental field. We support more than 350 AmeriCorps members and experienced staff statewide who restore critical habitat, build recreational trails, and respond to local and national disasters. All members earn a biweekly living allowance and an AmeriCorps Education Award once they successfully complete a term. For the 2024-2025 season, members will earn a living allowance of $1,441* issued twice a month. *Members with positions based in King, Snohomish, and Clark counties are eligible for a location-based elevated living allowance of $1,568 issued twice a month. Benefits for all members include health insurance, access to the Member Assistance Program (accessible and quality mental health services), and three weeks of paid, professional training. Most of our AmeriCorps positions are 11-month field-crew positions where members serve on a crew of five, led by a WCC crew supervisor. We offer limited nine-month and three-month positions in spring and summer. We also offer 11-month Individual Placement positions, where members serve independently with natural resources organizations.

Member Duties : This trail crew serves with Washington State Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Washington State Parks and other partners in the Hood Canal area. The crew meets at the DNR work center in Tahuya State Forest in Belfair, Washington. The crew completes trail work and recreation access improvement projects in the Tahuya and Green Mountain State Forests. The crew may also assist DNR with shoreline cleanup projects and perform tasks involving habitat restoration and aquatic invasive species management.
