Job Description

IIX Global is seeking a VP of Policy & Advocacy to lead initiatives that promote gender equality and climate action in financial markets through the Orange Movement. This role involves developing advocacy strategies, engaging stakeholders, conducting research, securing funding, and representing IIX in policy discussions. The position is remote and ideal for a visionary leader passionate about social impact and financial innovation.
About the Orange Movement

Launched in 2022, the Orange Movement™ is a global initiative led by IIX to integrate gender equality and climate action into financial markets. As part of this movement, IIX introduced Orange Bonds, the world’s first gender-lensand climate-focused asset class designed to:
• Mobilize $10 billion in capital markets by 2030
• Impact 100 million women, girls, and gender minorities
• Position women and gender minorities as key players in climate mitigation and adaptation

The Orange Movement operates through strategic partnerships, financial innovation, and advocacy to transform global finance into a more inclusive and sustainable system. The program is currently funded by Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) for the next three years, providing a strong foundation for growth. The Head of the Orange Movement will be responsible for executing the current program effectively while securing additional funding to expand its reach and impact.
About the Role:

The VP of Policy & Advocacy at IIX is a key leadership role responsible for shaping the global policy landscape to advance gender equality and impact finance. This role leads the development and implementation of policy advocacy strategies, engages with key stakeholders, conducts research, secures funding, and represents IIX in high-level policy discussions to drive regulatory change that integrates gender considerations into financial services. This high-impact role is responsible for:
• Develop and implement global and national policy advocacy strategies
• Engage with policymakers, regulators, and industry groups
• Conduct research and analysis
• Secure funding for policy reform initiatives
• Represent IIX in high-level policy discussions
• Drive regulatory change
• Collaborate internally
• Monitor the policy landscape

This role is ideal for a visionary leader passionate about gender equality, climate action, and financial innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Policy Advocacy Strategy
• Develop and implement a comprehensive policy advocacy strategy at global, regional, and national levels to advance IIX's policy objectives.
• Identify key policy priorities, defining target audiences, outlining advocacy tactics, and establishing clear metrics for success.

2.Stakeholder Engagement
• Engage with policymakers, regulators, government officials, multilateral institutions (e.g., UN agencies, development banks), industry groups, civil society organizations, and other relevant stakeholders to build support for policy reforms that promote financial inclusion for women and gender minorities.
• Build and maintain strong relationships, facilitating dialogue, and mobilizing coalitions.

3. Research & Analysis
• Collaborate closely with IIX's research team to conduct in-depth research and analysis on policy issues related to gender equality, impact finance, and financial inclusion.
• Use research findings to inform advocacy efforts and develop evidence-based policy recommendations.

4.Policy Development & Influence
• Draft policy papers, reports, briefs, recommendations, and legislative proposals to advance IIX's policy agenda. Provide technical expertise and guidance to policymakers and regulators on the design and implementation of effective policies.

5. Grant Acquisition for Policy Initiatives
• Identify and secure grants from governments, multilateral institutions, foundations, and other funding sources to support policy reform initiatives.
• Develop compelling grant proposals, manage grant reporting, and cultivate relationships with funders.

6. Representation & Thought Leadership
• Represent IIX and the movement in high-level policy discussions, panels, conferences, and other forums.
• Serve as a thought leader and spokesperson on issues related to gender equality, impact finance, and policy advocacy.
• Communicate IIX's policy positions effectively to a wide range of audiences.

7. Monitoring & Evaluation
• Monitor policy developments and track progress toward achieving policy objectives.
• Evaluate the impact of advocacy efforts and make adjustments to strategy as needed.
• Develop and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to policy influence.

8. Collaboration & Coordination
• Work closely with other teams within IIX, including programs, investments, research, and communications, to ensure alignment and maximize synergies.
• Collaborate with external partners and coalitions to amplify advocacy efforts.

9. Capacity Building
• Contribute to building the capacity of other organizations and individuals working on gender equality and impact finance policy issues.
• Share knowledge and expertise through training, workshops, and other capacity-building activities.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
• Influence at least five major policy changes or regulatory reforms within five years.
• Publish three high-impact policy papers per year in collaboration with IIX.
• Secure at least $2M in policy grants in the first three years.
• Establish official partnerships with at least five global policy organizations.

Required Qualifications:

✅ Education:Degree in Public Policy, International Development, Law, Economics, or a related field. A Bachelor's degree with extensive relevant experience may be considered.

✅ Experience: 15+ years of progressively responsible experience in policy analysis, advocacy, and government relations, preferably within the financial sector, international development, or gender equality advocacy space.

✅ Expertise: Demonstrated success in developing and implementing policy advocacy strategies at global and national levels. Proven track record of engaging with policymakers, regulators, and industry groups, particularly on issues related to financial inclusion, gender equality, or economic development.Deep understanding of policy development processes and government affairs.

✅ Communication Skills: Exceptional public speaking, writing, and storytelling abilities.

✅Strategic Mindset: Ability to translate vision into action and drive measurable results.
✅ Collaboration & Leadership: Proven experience managing cross-functional teams and complex projects.
✅ Location: Fully remote within APAC region with availability to travel.
