Bechtel Corporation is seeking a Vice President of Finance for its renewable energy sector in Phoenix, AZ. The role involves steering financial strategy, assessing renewable energy projects, and providing operational financial guidance. We are seeking an experienced Vice President of Finance to join our regional leadership team and play a critical role in steering the financial strategy within the renewable energy sector. Reporting to the Regional President and indirectly to the Chief Financial Officer, this role will be pivotal in driving both financial performance and operational improvement strategies, while uniquely addressing the intricacies of renewable energy development.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Analysis & Risk Management
• Lead the financial assessment of renewable energy projects, ensuring alignment with regional profitability goals.
• Monitor performance metrics, trends, and risks associated with clean energy investments and operations.
• Evaluate financial capability of joint venture partners specific to renewable energy projects.
• Oversee preparation of joint venture financial reports and renewable energy project forecasts.
• Incorporate renewable policy, incentives (e.g., tax credits), and funding nuances into analyses.

Operational Financial Guidance
• Provide expert insight on the financial structure of renewable energy contracts, assisting with funding sources like power purchase agreements (PPAs) and grants.
• Work with operations to mitigate financial risks related to energy-specific regulations or challenges.
• Support decision-making around mergers, acquisitions, or partnerships that further renewable energy development.
• Manage owner audits, subcontractor claims, and financial reviews specific to renewable projects.
• Collaborate with risk management teams on bonding, insurance, and compliance for large-scale clean energy builds.

Strategic Planning for Renewable Energy
• Work closely with business and project leaders on long-term goals tied to renewable energy growth and innovation.
• Drive alignment of operational goals with financial strategies to expand clean energy portfolios.
• Provide market insights related to renewable energy policies, funding mechanisms, and emerging trends.

Budgeting & Cash Management
• Develop annual budgets aligned with renewable energy project timelines and cash flow needs.
• Actively manage funding for renewable energy operations, ensuring proper capital allocation and liquidity.
• Oversee fixed asset acquisitions unique to renewable energy construction, ensuring proper usage and accounting treatment.

Leadership & Stakeholder Collaboration
• Represent the company externally with owners, financial institutions, and renewable energy partners.
• Guide cross-functional teams to instill financial discipline and improve project execution.
• Partner with corporate teams to integrate sustainability goals into financial decisions.
• Mentor emerging financial leaders passionate about renewable energy initiatives.

Other Responsibilities
• Drive financial leadership training programs with a focus on renewable energy initiatives.
• Oversee project-specific tax strategies, including renewable tax credits and state-specific incentives.
• Manage subcontractor assessments and prequalification processes aligned with the company's commitment to sustainability.

Qualifications

To excel in this role, candidates should demonstrate an exceptional ability to lead financial strategy within the renewable energy sector. Key qualifications include:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (MBA or advanced degree strongly preferred).
• 10+ years of finance and accounting experience, with at least 4 years directly supporting renewable energy or construction projects.
• Expertise in managing renewable energy funding strategies, including leveraging government incentives, PPAs, and carbon credits.
• CFA certification a plus
• Proficiency with ERP accounting software and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Familiarity with construction insurance, bonding, lien laws, and tax considerations for renewable energy projects.
• Highly organized, proactive, and detail-oriented; a strong problem-solver with strategic insight.
• Collaborative leadership style with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
