Visiting Assistant Professor in Urban Geography/Planning and GIS

Loyola Marymount University is seeking a Visiting Assistant Professor in Urban Geography/Planning and GIS for a one-year position starting Fall Semester 2025. The role involves teaching courses in GIS and urban studies. Candidates with GIS teaching experience and a relevant PhD or ABD status are encouraged to apply. The position is full-time, based in Los Angeles, CA, with a salary of $68,640.
The Department of Urban and Environmental Studies at Loyola Marymount University invites applications for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor position in urban geography/planning and GIS, beginning Fall Semester 2025. The successful candidate will teach Intro to GIS, Intermediate GIS, and a third course in their area of specialization.

Candidates with GIS teaching experience and a geospatial focus to their research are particularly encouraged to apply. Given the interdisciplinary nature of the department, we invite applications from candidates with diverse research interests in GIScience, urban planning, urban governance and policy, urban sustainability, digital geographies, and other foci. A PhD in geography, planning, or adjacent social science or interdisciplinary fields (including but not limited to public policy, urban studies, and environmental studies) is required; however, ABD applicants who anticipate completion of the doctorate before Fall 2025 are welcome to apply.
