Job Summary

The Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences in the College of Arts & Sciences at the University of Kentucky invites applications for the position of Visiting Assistant Professor in Earth and Environmental Sciences. This is a full-time, twelve-month, non-tenure-eligible faculty position in the temporary title series with a one-year appointment for the 2025–26 academic year, and an anticipated start date of August 1, 2025.

The teaching assignment is three courses for the academic year. The successful candidate will be prepared to teach courses in global climate and environmental change, remote sensing, environmental modeling or environmental geology, in alignment with departmental needs and the candidate’s expertise. We seek a broadly trained Earth system scientist whose work strategically engages questions at the intersection of geoecology, climate change, environmental sciences, biodiversity, and remote sensing. Candidates with experience in global environmental change, hyperspectral imaging, geo-ecological modeling, and interdisciplinary environmental field studies are especially encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will have demonstrated excellence in teaching and mentoring, and a record of peer-reviewed scholarship. A Ph.D. in Biology or Earth and Environmental Sciences is required.
