The U.S. Green Building Council is seeking a Vice President of Marketing and Communications based in Washington, D.C. This hybrid role involves leading regional marketing strategies and global corporate communications to drive growth and enhance brand positioning. How You'll Make An Impact

The Vice President of Marketing & Communications will lead and inspire two critical functions within our global marketing organization: first, our regional and field marketing capabilities; and second, our global corporate communications functions. This leadership role will be responsible for setting our regional go-to-market strategies in close partnership with our in-country business leaders—and then executing successful campaigns to drive growth across the globe. The VP of Marketing and Communications will also lead a dynamic corporate communications team that is responsible for bringing our story to life through effective media relations, employee communications and social media strategy.

Responsibilities

Regional/Field Marketing & Sales Enablement
• Develop and execute measurable marketing campaigns in target regions across the globe.
• Recruit, manage and inspire a team of regional field marketing professionals strategically placed in target markets including North America, LATAM, Europe, India/MENA/South Asia and North Asia.
• Leverage corporate communications team and external agencies to support USGBC and GBCI promotions globally.
• Partner closely with our creative services, digital and operations teams to ensure the USGBC and GBCI brands are effectively positioned across global markets.
• Develop and execute sales enablement materials and programs to support go-to-market growth initiatives.

Corporate Communications
• Set strategic direction for global media relations, agency management and corporate voice.
• Manage a team of communication professionals to support media relations, social media and employee communications for the organization globally.
• Establish communication benchmarks, scorecards and best practices protocols.
• Support executive communications, speaking activities and promotion programs.
• Align corporate communications objectives closely with field marketing campaigns to ensure one voice, one message consistency.

Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Partner with peers across marketing, sales, product development, regional business leadership and other departments to ensure brand alignment across all customer touchpoints.
• Lead by example in creating best-in-class processes in a matrixed global marketing organization.
• Liaise closely with Office of the CEO to drive storytelling consistency.

Crisis Management
• Develop and implement crisis communication strategies to protect the brand reputation in case of unexpected events.

Content Creation
• Collaborate with internal and external teams to develop marketing content, such as articles, blogs, case studies, presentations, and infographics. 
• Draft and update messaging for GBCI-administered programs including PEER, SITES, TRUE, ICP, and others. 

Brand & Promotions
• Support brand management initiatives and ensure alignment with corporate identity standards. 
• Assist in planning and implementing promotional campaigns to increase program visibility.

Metrics & Continuous Improvement
• Track and report on marketing performance metrics to enhance audience engagement. 
• Stay updated on new marketing tools, trends, and techniques to improve communication and achieve organizational objectives. 

Collaboration & Support
• Work closely with team members, clients, and vendors to ensure smooth project execution and delivery. 

Must-Have Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree is a plus. 
• 15 years of marketing and communications experience, with a minimum of 10 years of experience in a global leadership role within a global products leader, preferably in the green building, renewables, commercial real estate or sustainability sectors.
• Current client-side leadership experience in a global products organization with a minimum of $75M in revenues, preferably in the green building, commercial real estate, sustainability or renewables sectors.  
• Extensive experience managing global teams in a range of time zones and countries.
• Strong communication skills and comfortable working with executives including the CEO and Boards of Directors.
• Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to derive actionable insights from complex data. 
• Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to manage and inspire a diverse team. 
• Demonstrated ability to responsibly manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver expected outcomes within deadlines. 
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
