THE OPPORTUNITY

Triton Environmental Consultants Ltd. (“Triton”) is seeking experienced Vegetation Ecologists, to join a well-established team of environmental professionals!

This position can be based in any of our Western Canada office locations, such as Calgary AB, Edmonton AB. Kamloops BC, Prince George BC, Terrace BC, Vernon BC, Prince Rupert BC, Kitimat BC, Vancouver BC, Regina SK, and Saskatoon SK.

Responsibilities, include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Responsible for providing vegetation ecological expertise to field staff and project management teams
• Conducting vegetation inventories
• Conducting vegetation and soil assessments
• Conducting wetland assessments
• Conducting rare plant surveys
• Survey planning
• Permit closure reporting

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
• B.Sc. or M.Sc. in botany, plant ecology, biology, or a related field
• Accreditation or eligibility for accreditation with a professional governing body recognized in BC or Alberta (P.Biol., R.P.Bio., P.Ag..) is an asset
• Minimum three years of experience as a vegetation ecologist, having crew lead experience is preferred
• Exceptional plant identification skills for wetland, prairie grassland to interior BC, and upland communities in boreal landscapes
• Skilled in vegetation inventories and assessment in BC and Alberta.
• Experience with wetland delineation and classification
• Soil classification experience
• Willingness to work in the field in remote locations
• Enthusiasm and willingness to learn
• Effective technical writing skills
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Detail-oriented with solid organizational and time management skills
• Strong interpersonal skills and collaborative working style
• Valid Class 5 driver’s licence
• Experience operating off-highway vehicles

COMPENSATION

The compensation is dependent upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as specific hiring location. A potential salary range could be $30 dollars per hour - $50 dollars per hour.

Subject to specific position determination and scheduling requirements, this could position could potentially qualify for overtime pay. Provincial employment standards legislation dictates specific overtime pay requirements.
