Conduct research and analysis on utility regulatory policies and stay up-to-date on industry trends and developments.
Collaborate with city leadership and stakeholders to develop and implement effective utility regulatory policies that align with the city's values and goals.
Evaluate and assess the impact of proposed policies on the community, taking into consideration factors such as affordability, reliability, and sustainability.
Prepare and present reports, briefings, and recommendations to city leadership and other relevant parties.
Monitor and track regulatory proceedings and developments at the local, state, and federal levels.
Conduct cost-benefit analysis and financial modeling to inform policy decisions.
Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including utility companies, community groups, and government agencies.
Communicate complex regulatory issues and recommendations in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences.
Participate in public meetings and hearings to represent the city's interests and provide expert testimony.
Collaborate with other city departments and agencies to ensure coordination and alignment of policies and regulations.
Identify and propose innovative solutions to address emerging challenges and opportunities in the energy sector.
Maintain accurate records and documentation of policy analysis and recommendations.
Continuously evaluate and improve policies and processes to ensure effectiveness and efficiency.
Adhere to ethical and legal standards in all aspects of work.
Stay informed and comply with all relevant laws, regulations, and policies related to utility regulation.
Act as a subject matter expert and provide guidance and support to other city staff on utility regulatory issues.
Keep abreast of advancements and developments in the energy industry and provide recommendations for incorporating new technologies and practices into policies.
Represent the city in negotiations and discussions with utility companies and other stakeholders.
Take on special projects and assignments as needed to support the overall goals of the city.
