The State of Utah is hiring an Environmental Scientist III for the Department of Environmental Quality in Salt Lake City, UT. This role involves evaluating field investigation plans, groundwater sampling, and remediation activities. Candidates should have a science-related bachelor's degree and experience in site characterization and remediation. Effective communication and teamwork skills are essential. This position is aimed at adults re-entering the workforce after a break.
The Department of Environmental Quality is seeking a highly skilled Environmental Scientist III to join its team. As an Environmental Scientist III, you will be responsible for evaluating field investigation work plans and reports, as well as groundwater sampling and monitoring corrective action work plans and reports. You will also evaluate remedial activities for closure and post-closure. This is a return-to-work opportunity designed for adults looking to re-enter the workforce after an extended absence.

The successful candidate will have a bachelor's degree in a science-related field or an equivalent combination of relevant education and paid professional employment. OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification is preferred but not required. Experience with site characterization of various media, sampling, and remediation is highly desirable. In addition to your technical skills, you will need to be able to communicate effectively with stakeholders and work collaboratively as part of a team.
