position is also OT eligible.

Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and administer forestry operations.
• Manage all public trees on or impacting Town-owned or managed land.
• Enforce the Town’s Tree Protection and Sidewalk Obstruction bylaws.
• Perform complex administrative, supervisory, regulatory, financial, budgetary, and professional work.
• Collaborate with various departments and stakeholders to achieve program goals.
• Conduct public outreach and education on urban forestry.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Arboriculture/Urban Forestry or a related field.
• Five to seven years of experience in commercial or municipal tree care and personnel management.
• Massachusetts Arborist Certification required.
• Class B Massachusetts Commercial Driver’s License.
• MA Hoisting Engineer’s License.

Knowledge & Skills:
• Extensive knowledge of tree care and their diseases.
• Thorough knowledge of tree maintenance techniques, materials, and practices.
• Proficiency in Geographic Information System (GIS) and Geographic Positioning System (GPS).
• Working knowledge of drainage systems, excavation, surface grading, soil compositions, landscape construction, surveying, and laying out of street tree specifications.
• Ability to operate hydraulic and chain saws safely.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to read and interpret operating manuals, soil tests, and engineering plans, documents, diagrams, schematic drawings.
• Ability to perform budget analysis, write and manage contracts, and administer grants.
• Strong organizational, supervisory, leadership, communication, and public outreach skills.
• Skill in operating all of the small and large engine equipment required to carry out the functions of this position.
• Strong technical and computer skills.
