Job Overview

The County of Maui is seeking a highly skilled Community Development Planner to join our team. As a key member of our Department of Planning, you will be responsible for conducting research studies and surveys pertinent to community planning.

Key Responsibilities:
• Select reference sources and determine proper approaches and methods to obtain socio-economic and land use data necessary for planning activities
• Plan and conduct field data collection activities
• Analyze data involving the use of statistical concepts and formulas
• Develop data for and prepare maps, charts, and other presentations
• Review ordinances in relation to the development of planning goals and programs
• Assist in the review of zoning and subdivision applications

Requirements:
• A combination of education and experience substantially equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in urban or regional planning, architecture, civil engineering, economics, sociology, public administration, or a related field
• One and one-half (1 1/2) years of research or analytical experience in social, economic, or community development programs
