Opportunity for Entry-Level Civil Engineer
We are seeking a motivated entry-level civil engineer to join our Northern IL Transportation Team based in Chicago. The selected candidate will contribute to the planning and design of transportation projects for state and local agencies in Illinois.
Key Responsibilities:
• Perform planning and design tasks for transportation improvement projects under the direction of senior engineers and project managers.
• Apply local, state, and federal design guidelines and standards to implement transportation, traffic, and drainage-related designs.
• Develop multimodal solutions and evaluate alternatives using design guidelines from IDOT, FHWA, ITE, NACTO, AASHTO, and MUTCD.
• Develop specifications and quantity estimates for transportation or site-civil related projects.
• Create plans and bid documents for project deliverables using various design and modeling tools.
• Coordinate with public/private utilities to document physical location and analyze potential conflicts.
• Assist with field data collection, field survey, and construction inspection/documentation as needed.
Requirements:
• B.S. degree in Civil Engineering; EIT is preferred.
• Previous experience with roadway and/or drainage design for municipal, county, or state agency clients is desired.
• Ability to apply transportation engineering principles to projects and work independently to complete assigned project tasks.
• Effective communication skills to draft technical memos, provide support for presentation materials, and work collaboratively as part of a team.
• Experience with Open Roads Designer (ORD), MicroStation/Geopak, ArcGIS, HCS, and Synchro is desired.
• Proficiency with MS Office is required.
• Valid driver's license with ability to travel to project sites as needed.
Compensation:
We offer a flexible work-life balance and an excellent compensation and benefits package including a starting salary range of $69,507 - $87,984, annual bonus, comprehensive insurance benefits, education and professional license reimbursement, 401k and ESOP plans, and individual ownership opportunity.
