Job Description:

DESCRIPTION: Join us at the forefront of creating unforgettable outdoor experiences while honing skills and expertise in park management. As a Temporary Park Superintendent I at Two Rivers SRA, this position provides an opportunity to gain valuable, hands-on experience in managing one of Nebraska’s most unique state recreation areas. You’ll play an active role in overseeing a variety of park activities, maintaining facilities, managing a security team, and performing administrative duties, all while working alongside a dedicated and experienced team. This role is designed to provide you with the tools, knowledge, and experience needed to thrive in outdoor recreation management.

We’re looking for candidates with: • A deep appreciation for natural and cultural resources • A passion for creating positive park experiences for visitors • Flexibility and adaptability to meet park demands • A willingness to learn and grow in the field of park management Responsibilities may encompass various tasks across multiple locations, including grounds and maintenance, housekeeping, visitor activities, campgrounds, specialized recreational activities, park security and interpretive programming. These assignments offer opportunities for learning and skill development in park management functions. Duties include but are not limited to:

• Maintenance-Oriented Opportunities: Gain hands-on experience in routine caboose maintenance, facilities upkeep, equipment operation, housekeeping, grounds keeping, horticulture, and campground maintenance and improvements. • Security Team Management: Oversee and manage the Two Rivers team, coordinating team scheduling, staffing, and training to ensure safety, promote a family-friendly atmosphere and ensure our customers’ needs are addressed. • Administrative Duties: Engage in various administrative tasks such as preparing reports, data collection on vehicles and bulk fuel. • Supervision and Coordination: Supervise, train and manage seasonal staff to ensure smooth park operations, compliance, and excellent customer service. • Park Improvement Projects: Serve as the point of contact for park improvement projects and improvements, ensuring effective communication and project execution.

Positions in this class will work outside normal business hours, including weekends and holidays, to respond to complaints or incidences.

Requirements/Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in park/recreation management or a related field (wildlife, fisheries, natural resources sciences, public administration, history, cultural resource preservation or interpretation, travel and tourism, and planning) AND one year of related experience. Related coursework/training and/or experience in park/recreation management or a related field may substitute for the Bachelor’s degree on a year-for-year basis.

Other: Driver’s license required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
• Ability to plan, manage, analyze, and evaluate park maintenance
• Knowledge of the principles, techniques, and application of park maintenance and conservation
• Ability to learn departmental rules and regulations
• Effective communication skills and the ability to establish and maintain community relations
• Ability to supervise, train staff, enforce park rules and regulations, and provide exceptional customer service
• Ability to work weekends and holiday
