Job Description:

Hiring for 3 month, 5 month and 11 month positions.

The Management Section of the Wildlife Division is primarily responsible for implementation of habitat development and restoration efforts on public Wildlife Management Areas and conducting wildlife population surveys along with disease and depredation response.

Conservation Biologist I:
Job Duties: Assist with prescribed burning, ground preparation and plantings, weed control, maintain equipment, mix and apply chemicals, word processing, age and check deer, perform wildlife surveys, handle depredation response, public relations, and assist with wildlife disease investigations. Possible non-traditional work week hours and some weekends.

Requirements / Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications: Experience or coursework/training in fisheries management, natural resources, biology, and/or agriculture.

Preferred Qualifications: Applicants with Pesticide Applicators license and Class A CDL license with O endorsement.

Other: Driver’s license required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of and ability to operate tractors, All Terrain Vehicles (ATV’s), chainsaws, and other farm equipment; basic knowledge of wildlife management principles. Computer skills (MS Word, Access, Excel) highly desirable.
