Job Description:

LOCATION: STATEWIDE, including Lincoln.

JOB DUTIES: Under direction of the Pollinator Biologist, complete surveys, coordinate with volunteers, attend or lead workshops, and compile data for the Nebraska Bumble Bee Atlas. This position may also assist with other pollinator-related activities such as butterfly surveys, monarch tagging, moth lighting, and native bee surveys. Because survey windows are dependent upon weather conditions, working variable hours and weekends might be necessary to complete project objectives. Survey work will be completed statewide, so travel will be required.

Requirements/Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: 1 year experience OR 1 year coursework/training in fisheries management, natural resources, biology, and/or agriculture.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES: Knowledge of pollinator survey methods including bumble bee, butterfly, and flowering plant identification is preferred. The applicant must be detail oriented, able to communicate with the public, and capable of working long hours outdoors. They must also be comfortable working alone in remote locations. Written and computer skills (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, GIS, program R) are highly desirable, but not required.
