Tellus is seeking a Part-Time Junior Environmental Scientist

Tellus Civic Science Corporation (Tellus) provides world-class science, engineering, research, planning, and consulting solutions focused on resource conservation and restoration, carbon reduction, and sustainability to mitigate the impacts of climate change, strengthen community resilience, preserve our environment, and create a more equitable society for all. This position is PART-TIME but has the potential to grow into a full-time position.

Responsibilities
• Provide technical and administrative support to Tellus' Project Managers and Senior-level practitioners on disaster resilience, community resilience, energy conservation, sustainability, net zero, and other environmental projects and initiatives.
• Work within a team to develop creative environmental project strategies.
• Conduct research as assigned to support project initiatives.
• Evaluate technical analytical data to arrive at sound scientific determinations.
• Author or assist in writing technical deliverables.
• Support GIS, data analytics, and database management as skills apply.
• Provide word processing and technical editing support.
• Help coordinate and schedule project meetings.
• Attend meetings with government and non-government clients and stakeholders, take notes to compare to AI generated meeting minutes and make any corrections and disseminate notes to meeting participants.
• Create project deliverables, such as after-action reports, event booklets, team assignment matrices, guidance documents, monthly and annual reports with accuracy, clarity, and succinctness.
• Support the development of event themes, agendas, speakers, and facilitators.
• Deliver all assignments on-time and within allotted budget.
• Contribute to a great team in a diverse and fun environment with a passion for doing good in the world.
• Provide participant travel booking support for forums, workshops, events for the environmental security program and other programs needing this support, using the Egencia Travel Booking Platform, and be the main point of contact to the Egencia support team.
• Review project milestones and work with project managers to develop project schedules.
• Correspond with vendors, subcontractors, and customers, as requested.
• Periodically support business development activities that involve conducting market research and proposal development.

Required Qualifications
• Bachelor of Science degree in environmental studies, natural resource management, planning or related field and two years of applicable experience.
• Be self-directed, adaptable, entrepreneurial, and aligned with Tellus's core values and mission of providing positive planet solutions.
• Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as interpersonal skills to effectively manage assignments and interact with teams of staff, sub-consultants, and clients.
• Successful candidate will have the ability to write concise technical documents; to multi-task effectively to accommodate working on various simultaneous and diverse projects; and to follow through to completion all assigned and delegated tasks.
• This position requires work within a group and individual setting and the ability to complete tasks within tight deadlines.

Desired Qualifications
• Experience working with diverse stakeholder groups focused on climate, community, and/or disaster resilience.
• Experience working with international entities (governments, community-based organizations, disaster management offices, and non-profits).
• Knowledge of technology to improve project and business operations.

Location

This position will be predominately remote; however, national or international travel may be required in support of contract work.
