Job Description

WWT is seeking a Technical Manager for a 12-month project focused on developing wetlands in the Great Ouse Lower catchment. The role involves working with landholders and conservation groups to create wetland plans. Candidates should have experience in wetland habitat design, project management, and stakeholder engagement. This full-time position is home-based with regular travel required. WWT offers a supportive work environment with benefits including generous leave and professional development opportunities.
About The Role

WWT has been offered a 12-month grant to develop Great Ouse Blue Connections, our bold and
exciting new project which aims to create and restore wetlands across the Great Ouse Lower
catchment, delivering significant benefits for biodiversity and people.

During this first phase of the project, we will work with landholders, environmental and
community groups to develop a wetland vision and creation plan for selected waterbodies within
the catchment, and we are now looking for a Technical Manager with experience of wetland
habitat design and delivery to take this forward.

For the right candidate, we can offer:
• The opportunity to be in charge of a new aspirational and high-profile project with the
potential to drive major change
• A combination of field and desk-based work
• The chance to work alongside and learn from wetland conservationists within WWT’s UK
Programmes and Conservation Evidence teams

This is a fixed term position until 31 May 2026 with the possibility of an extension (subject
to funding). This role is full time working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday and is home based
with the need for regular travel within the Great Ouse Lower catchment near Huntingdon/ St Neots.

About You

We are looking for a technically-minded conservationist with the skills and experience in
wetland creation to lead the development phase of this project.

You’ll be a proactive and motivated person, who cares deeply about the success and impact of
your work and is willing to develop your skills and knowledge. You’ll be enthusiastic about
nature recovery and recognise the value of working at the landscape-scale.

You’ll be a strong communicator, advocating your work successfully to wide range of
stakeholders, and effective at engaging landholders, particularly the farming community.

You’ll have experience in successfully delivering projects and understand the importance of a
professional attitude in project management. You will enjoy working in an organisation with a
strong ‘can-do’ attitude that wants to make a difference and is willing to run with good ideas.

If this sounds like you, then we would love to hear from you. Come and join us in delivering
