Tax Underwriter, Renewable Energy

The role involves structuring and negotiating tax credit insurance for renewable energy investments, analyzing submissions, and assessing tax credit risks. Candidates should have expertise in renewable energy tax credits, underwriting experience, and strong project management skills. Relationship management with brokers is also essential.
Joining a purpose-built team, the full-time remote Tax Underwriter, Renewable Energy will be responsible for structuring, underwriting, and negotiating tax credit insurance solutions for renewable energy investments, while managing submissions and collaborating with brokers and tax advisors. Key responsibilities Analyze and evaluate tax credit insurance submissions, including project documentation and tax counsel opinions Assess and underwrite renewable energy tax credit risks, including qualification and transferability Prepare and negotiate policy terms, indication letters, and endorsements in coordination with carrier partners Required qualifications Deep knowledge of renewable energy tax credits and monetization structures, ideally with a background as a tax attorney or tax equity investor Experience in underwriting or evaluating tax risk in M&A, tax equity, or tax credit transfer transactions Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to synthesize large volumes of information Self-starter with project management capabilities and a proactive approach in a startup environment Experience in relationship management with brokers and external parties to build a book of business
