Job Description

Cotswold District Council seeks a Sustainable Transport Lead to enhance sustainable transport policies and initiatives. The role involves collaboration within the Planning Policy and Infrastructure Team to reduce carbon emissions and promote healthier travel options. Candidates should have a relevant degree, five years of experience, and strong project management skills. The position allows for agile working, combining home and office work, along with flexible arrangements and generous leave.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Sustainable Transport Lead to work collaboratively within the Planning Policy and Infrastructure Team and with other stakeholders, to lead on all aspects of Sustainable Transport in the creation and revision of Council policies and the formation of the Local Plan. With a focus on innovative approaches to reduce carbon emissions, improve air quality, and promote healthier, more sustainable travel options, the Sustainable Transport Lead will spearhead transport sustainability initiatives and projects whilst continuing to shape and deliver the council's vision for sustainable transport. The role is key in assisting the deliver of priorities such as responding to the climate crisis, creating a Local Plan that is green to the core, town centre master planning, supporting health and wellbeing and enabling a vibrant economy. The role will promote sustainable methods of transport so as to reduce reliance on car usage for short journeys; this will require an effective working relationship with the County Council and local communities. The role will also require proactive working with communities, individuals and groups to bring forward new solutions and opportunities inspiring, mobilising and empowering the Council and local highways authority to promote low-carbon transport option.
• Bachelor's degree in Transport Planning, Environmental Science, Urban Planning, or a related field.
• Five years' experience in the relevant field.
• Strong understanding of sustainable transport principles and practices.
• Excellent project management skills, with a proven track record of delivering complex projects.
