Sustainable Farm Specialist

The Nantucket Conservation Foundation is hiring a Sustainable Farm Specialist to oversee cranberry farm operations, including irrigation, pest management, and marketing. Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to fill the role of Cranberry Bog Foreman & Plant Propagation Assistant. This position is responsible for maintaining, growing, harvesting, and selling cranberries under the guidance of the Director of Land Management.

Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and execute a sustainable farm plan for the operation
• Oversight of all aspects of cranberry farm operations, including irrigation, fertilization, pest management, pruning, ditch maintenance, harvest, and equipment maintenance
• Ensure that NCF equipment, pumps, and electrical needs are maintained and managed safely
• Pest management, including coordination with consultants and maintenance of records
• Assist with customer relations, marketing, sales, and distribution of the crop

Requirements:
• Associate's or bachelor's degree in agriculture, sustainable farming, horticulture, or equivalent longer-term work experience on farms, preferably cranberry bogs
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications for reporting and record keeping
• Ability to work well independently and as a team member managing seasonal staff
• Valid driver's license required, with comfort operating tractors and equipment on a daily basis
