The Sustainable Cities Network Program Coordinator at Arizona State University will coordinate activities and support initiatives for the SCN and Project Cities programs. This full-time position requires strong organizational and communication skills and involves collaboration with various stakeholders, including local governments and community organizations. Department Statement:
The Julie Ann Wrigley Global Futures Laboratory (GFL) conducts research, education, and problem-solving related to sustainability, with a special focus on urban environments. GFL initiates and nurtures work on issues of sustainability across many departments on the four campuses of ASU, and collaborates with other academic institutions, governments, businesses and industries, and community groups locally, nationally, and globally.

Job Description:

The Sustainable Cities Network (SCN) Program Coordinator coordinates, organizes, administers and/or supports activities, meetings, events, initiatives, and communication for SCN and its signature community program, Project Cities, ensuring goals, objectives, and priorities are achieved on a continual basis. This position works directly with and reports to the SCN Director and Project Cities Program Manager, providing approximately a 50/50 time split between the two programs (this may vary a bit from semester to semester).

Due to the direct connection with local governments, the SCN Program Coordinator interfaces with a broad range of engaged stakeholders, including community and government agencies' representatives and decision makers, community-based organizations, other SCN-related partners, and ASU faculty, students, program staff, and academic units. This position requires excellent organizational, writing and communication skills to coordinate data, reports, web content, and other important information; proven knowledge of sustainability and resilience and related concepts; and experience working with various governance structures.

This position directly supports SCN's mission to connect communities, advance sustainability and cultivate solutions, as well as align SCN's activities with ASU's Charter and 9 Design Aspirations. Since 2009, SCN has served as a free, voluntary network for Arizona community practitioners where they can share sustainability best practices; interface with ASU's research, students, and faculty; foster meaningful partnerships; and collaborate on solutions to overcome issues and challenges. SCN's Project Cities program facilitates partnerships between public sector agencies and ASU faculty-led courses, with the goal of providing students with practical experience by addressing sustainability challenges through applied projects. Through this win-win collaboration, students work directly on local issues, playing an integral role in improving partner communities and quality of life for residents.

Essential Duties:

The SCN Program Coordinator is responsible for a variety of daily SCN and Project Cities activities and as determined by the SCN Director and Project Cities Program Manager.

Administrative, Office and Program Coordination - 40%
• Manages paperwork, documentation, and coordination with ASU-related offices (e.g., GFL business office, travel, print services, ORSPA, General Counsel, and other departments)
• Oversees the work of part-time student workers, assigning tasks and deliverables
• Maintains and updates databases for SCN and Project Cities
• Coordinates the creation of reports, summaries, evaluations, and surveys
• Edits videos for meetings and activity documentation
Event and Meeting Coordination - 20%
• Plans, coordinates, implements, facilitates, and documents workgroup meetings and activities for SCN and Project Cities
• Assists with logistics, such as scheduling site visits, student transportation, event and meeting planning
Marketing and Communications - 20%
• Develops, schedules, and distributes promotional content, including social media, newsletters, brochures, and flyers
• Ensures public-facing websites are updated with relevant information (e.g., calendars, reports, events)
• Collaborates on/develops and distributes marketing literature for the programs
Stakeholder and Program Support - 15%
• Liaises with students, faculty, staff, and external communities to facilitate program outcomes
• Assists and participates in ASU, educational, and public events
• Collaborates with the Program Manager to ensure effective communication and logistics
Grant Writing and Evaluation - 5%
• Assists with grant writing and funding-related activities
• Supports programmatic monitoring and evaluation in collaboration with the Program Manager
Knowledge and skills are needed in the areas of:
• Sustainability, resilience, climate, and/or public administration
• Organizational and logistic program coordination
• Effective written and oral communication, and web/social media
• Computer experience (skills and software use) are preferrable:
• Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Powerpoint, Excel, etc.)
• Adobe Creative Suite (Adobe Sign, Premiere Pro, etc.)
• Survey tool such as Qualtrics, QuestionPro, etc.
• Program Management Tools, such as Trello
• Social Media platforms, such as Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, Hootsuite, etc.
• Marketing/Contact Management Tools, such as Salesforce

Desired Qualifications:

Experience in:
• Coordinating important aspects of programs and projects
• Working with municipal professionals/administrators and/or other types of public sector organizations
• Working in an academic environment with administrators, faculty, and students
• Marketing, communications, and some graphic design
Demonstrated knowledge of:
• Sustainability/climate/resilience-related community challenges, and solutions pathways, including public administration and/or working knowledge of the UN Sustainable Development Goals
• University-community engagement, service learning or engaged scholarship
• Public/Private partnership development and capacity building
• The printing/publication process, including copy editing, design, and ordering
• Computer skills/software use with the same or similar: Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.), Adobe Creative Suite (Adobe Sign, Premier Pro, etc.), survey tools (Qualtrics, QuestionPro, etc.); program management tools (ex. Trello), social media platforms, and marketing/contact management tools (ex. Salesforce)
Evidence of:
• Excellent verbal and written presentation skills
• Client-based services and required outcomes
• Project management/organizational and
• Technical capacity to support learning and events in the hybrid/virtual environment, research software, and online collaboration tools

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of experience appropriate to the area of assignment/field; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

This position may require driving. Employee must possess a valid US Driver's license of the appropriate class and required endorsements throughout employment.
