About The Role

Are you passionate about sustainability and environmental performance? Do you have experience in waste management, cleaning solutions, and compliance with OHS&E policies? BGIS is seeking a highly motivated Sustainability, Waste and Cleaning Manager to lead and drive sustainability initiatives across a national portfolio for a high-profile client.

This role is integral in ensuring the effective management of environmental sustainability, waste reduction, and cleaning services while supporting Qantas Group Business Units and the Sustainability Team in achieving their targets.

Key Responsibilities

Sustainability:
• Collaborate with Qantas Group Business Units and Sustainability Team to develop and implement waste reduction initiatives.
• Manage sustainability initiatives, including energy and water consumption monitoring and reporting.
• Develop sustainability strategies with Qantas, ensuring accurate data collection, analysis, and reporting.
• Work with Facilities Managers to oversee installations that support sustainability initiatives.

Waste Management:
• Manage and coordinate onsite waste changes, including bin installations and collection schedules.
• Monitor waste data to ensure alignment with business unit changes and vendor reports.
• Develop and implement an Assurance Program for waste management.
• Conduct waste audits, create waste management plans, and recommend waste reduction strategies.

Cleaning Services:
• Ensure implementation of cleaning supplier scope amendments, including waste collection frequency adjustments.
• Oversee compliance with environmental and safety regulations within cleaning services.
• Ensure cleaning service employees receive appropriate training and equipment.
• Promote the use of innovative technologies and sustainable materials to meet sustainability targets.
• Maintain high standards of safety procedures and training for cleaning staff.

General Responsibilities:
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and contractors to enhance service delivery.
• Provide coaching, mentoring, and effective communication to promote team performance.
• Ensure compliance with HSEQ Management Systems, participating in risk management and safety training.

Qualifications & Experience:

Essential:
• String experience in sustainability, waste, and cleaning management within a property estate environment.
• Proven experience in integrated services, environmental sustainability development (ESD), and operational training.
• Strong knowledge of environmental regulations and sustainability best practices.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
• Strong business acumen, financial knowledge, and ability to work effectively at all levels.
• Degree or Diploma in Property, Commerce, Business, Environmental Science, or Environmental Engineering, with knowledge of OH&S legislation.

Desirable:
• Additional technical software proficiency relevant to environmental management.
• Qualification as an EMS auditor AS/NZS ISO 14001.
