Job Description
Mortenson Construction is hiring a Sustainability Specialist for their Rochester, MN location. The role involves supporting project teams in sustainability efforts, carbon management, and data collection. Responsibilities include developing sustainability strategies, conducting research on low-carbon alternatives, and overseeing sustainability training. Mortenson is currently seeking a Sustainability Specialist that will be responsible for working with project teams to support and educate on sustainability project responsibilities and assist with carbon reduction, management and data collection.Sponsorship is not available for this position.ResponsibilitiesSupport wind energy leadership with the development of group sustainability strategy in line with latest industry developmentsImplement and administer sustainability program at project site(s)Support project management team in developing and executing site-specific sustainability requirementsConduct regional research into low‑carbon alternatives, waste diversion/management options, water stress, and regional materialsCoordinate and support sustainability orientation and training programsReview sustainability submittals and attend preconstruction and preparatory meetings with Trade Partners/SubcontractorsMonitor and review Trade Partner/Subcontractor work plans and activities for sustainability concernsConduct work site environmental sustainability inspectionsPartner with multiple project stakeholders for project impacts and data collectionRecord information in necessary sustainability softwarePerform all other duties as assignedQualificationsBachelor's degree in Construction/Construction Management, Architecture, Civil, or Architectural Engineering, Sustainability, or equivalent experiencePrevious related internship experience a plusLEED with Contractor's Commitment, Envision, UN Sustainable Development Goals, Equator PrinciplesCurrent driver's licenseDetail orientation to organize and manage multiple project tasksAbility to work with multiple stakeholders to collect pertinent informationBasic understanding of construction documentationIntermediate skills in Microsoft Office, project, and pertinent web applicationsPositive and professional attitude, strong customer service skills (communication, persuasion, problem‑solving, teamwork)Ability to interpret and communicate Mortenson policiesActive listening skills and effective communication, openness to diverse input and feedbackAbility to travel up to 100%BenefitsMedical and prescription drug plans that includes no additional cost vision coverageDental plan401k retirement plan with a generous Mortenson matchPaid time off, holidays, and other paid leavesEmployer paid Life, AD&D, and disability insuranceNo‑Cost mental health tool and concierge with extensive work‑life resourcesTuition reimbursementAdoption AssistanceGym Membership Discount ProgramThe base pay range for this role is $81,200 MIN - $121,800 MAX. (Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL - 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR - 10%, Washington, D.C. - 12.5%).Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual's knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity.
