Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated Sustainability Specialist to join our team in overseeing environmental compliance and sustainability initiatives for new store openings.
About the Role

The Sustainability Specialist will be responsible for ensuring all new stores meet stringent environmental standards, including permits, authorizations, and reporting requirements. This role requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as excellent communication and project management abilities.
Key Responsibilities
• Conduct thorough research on environmental permits and authorizations required for new stores, including water discharge and waste management regulations.
• Create a comprehensive matrix of environmental compliance for each new store, incorporating applicable laws and regulations.
• Collaborate with external providers to ensure timely compliance with regulatory requirements, including municipal, state, and federal permits.
• Publish annual reports to relevant authorities, detailing environmental performance and compliance metrics.
• Develop and implement sustainable waste management practices across new and operating stores, encompassing general waste, recyclables, and hazardous materials.
• Establish waste logs to track annual quantities and provide insights for energy management teams.
• Identify and report on applicable air emissions regulations for new and operating stores, utilizing measurement tools and data analysis.
• Determine necessary payments, studies, and rights for estimating an annual environmental budget.
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, or Industrial Engineering.
• Three to five years of experience in environmental studies and permitting, with a focus on policy implementation and compliance.
