Our mission matters!Key DutiesManage sustainability programs such as vehicle fleet efficiency, electric and solar charging, green lawn care, composting, and recycling.Plan and implement long‑term and short‑term sustainability strategies.Oversee project management activities for energy, water, and resilience-related improvements.Ensure compliance with building codes, environmental regulations, and agency policies.Develop specifications, documentation, and informational materials for sustainable operations.Collaborate with internal teams on purchasing, personnel, and accounting processes related to sustainability projects.Evaluate opportunities for future program expansion (e.g., integrated pest management, materials reuse, indoor air quality enhancement).QualificationsMinimum Education and ExperienceBachelor’s degree in an applicable field of engineering from an appropriately accredited institution and four (4) years of progressively responsible experience.Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.May require registration as a professional engineer by the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors.Preferred SkillsDemonstrated experience developing and managing sustainability programs such as EV fleet operations, recycling systems, composting processes, energy‑efficiency initiatives, or solar charging infrastructure.Proven experience evaluating or developing project specifications for sustainability or energy‑efficiency projects in alignment with engineering standards, building codes, environmental regulations, or similar compliance requirements.Documented experience leading or coordinating project management activities for multi‑site operational programs such as infrastructure upgrades, agency‑wide sustainability rollouts, or comparable long‑term implementation efforts.BenefitsHealth Insurance optionsRetirement PlansNCFlex Supplemental BenefitsPaid Vacation, Sick, and Community Service LeavePaid Parental LeaveVisit the State Benefits for additional information.Application ProcessNCDAC uses the Merit-Based Recruitment and Selection Plan to fill positions with the most qualified individuals.
