Job Description
Bunzl Distribution NA is seeking a Summer Sustainability Policy Intern for 6-8 weeks starting in June 2025 in St. Louis, MO. The intern will support legislative monitoring, research, and data visualization, working closely with the sustainability team. The role is hybrid, requiring office presence on Tuesdays and Thursdays, with remote work possible on other days. Candidates should be pursuing a degree in related fields and possess technical and communication skills.

We are seeking a Summer Sustainability Policy Intern to assist in the continued development of our legislative monitoring system.
About The Role
As the Summer Sustainability Policy Intern, you will play an integral role in enhancing our legislative monitoring capabilities. This position offers a unique opportunity to engage with legislative processes, streamline research and communications, and develop data visualization skills in a real-world setting. You will work closely with our sustainability team to help identify and summarize key legislative issues relevant to our business, such as climate and extended producer responsibility.

The duration of the internship will be 6-8 weeks with a target start date of early June.
This position is based in St. Louis, Missouri. Hybrid in office. No relocation.
The candidate will work in the office on Tuesday and Thursday. Remote M, W and F. Days may fluctuate for meetings or special projects.
Key Responsibilities
• Legislative Monitoring Systems Support:
• Utilize advanced technology tools to monitor and track legislative developments, while analyzing and interpreting legislation to identify trends and issues that could impact our supply chain, operations, and customers.
• Leveraging Technology to Expedite Research:
• Utilize technology to streamline the process of gathering, organizing, and summarizing information from multiple sources.
• Assist in the development of automated workflows to improve efficiency in identifying and reporting relevant legislative changes.
• Combine technological tools with traditional analysis to ensure accuracy and relevance in insights shared with stakeholders.
• Insight Creation and Reporting:
• Prepare clear, concise summaries of legislative developments that are tailored for key decision-makers.
• Work with the team to transform raw data into decision-useful information, highlighting risks, opportunities, and actionable recommendations.
• Create interactive Power BI dashboards to visualize trends and make insights easily accessible to stakeholders.
• Participate in meetings and presentations, sharing insights and recommendations based on your research and analysis.
Qualifications
• Educational Background:
• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Public Policy, Political Science, Data Analytics, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Technical Skills:
• Familiarity with AI tools and experience in creating automated workflows.
• Proficiency in data visualization tools, particularly Power BI.
• Writing and Communication:
• Strong writing skills with the ability to synthesize complex information into clear, concise reports.
• Excellent verbal communication skills for presenting findings to team members and stakeholders.
• Analytical Skills:
• Strong research skills with an ability to interpret and analyze legislative documents and summarize findings effectively.
• Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications
• Previous experience in public policy, advocacy, or related fields through internships or coursework is a plus.
• Familiarity with legislative monitoring tools is advantageous.
• Interest in sustainability and advancing sustainability initiatives within the corporate environment, particularly in relation to how legislative developments can impact environmental practices and policies.
