Reworld is hiring a Sustainability Operations Professional for a full-time, on-site role in Newark, NJ. The position involves participating in an Entry-level Facility Operator Program, which includes training in waste-to-energy processes. The role requires hands-on support of plant operations and maintenance, with opportunities for continuous improvement and skill development over the first year.
About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Sustainability Operations Professional to join our team at Reworld, a leading sustainable materials management company. This is an individual contributor, full-time, on-site role located at our Essex, New Jersey location.
Purpose

The primary purpose of this role is to participate in our Entry-level Facility Operator Program (FOP), which consists of 6 to 8 weeks of classroom, online, and on-the-job training. Upon completing program requirements, participants are prepared to step into a Back Plant Operator position at the assigned Thermal Mechanical Treatment Facility - Essex, New Jersey.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Participate in varied learning activities, including in-person classroom instruction, computer-based training, and hands-on training under the supervision of a dedicated field trainer and/or shift supervisor.
• Gain foundational knowledge and skills on Waste to Energy processes, system layouts, component descriptions, system cross-functionality, and required theoretical knowledge.
• Continue building skills and experience as you graduate into your permanent Back Plant Operator (BPO) role.
What Your Post-FOP Graduation Journey Will Look Like
• In your first three to four months at Reworld, you will be hands-on, supporting minimum plant operations and maintenance functions, testing and inspection requirements, and adherence to required safety standards.
• Throughout your next six months at Reworld, you will actively participate in annual/semiannual critical asset operations and maintenance programs, conducting National Code and Company Technical Standard functional testing.
• By the end of your first year at Reworld, you will contribute, develop, and support operational improvement using continuous improvement methods, lean principles, and problem-solving tools to improve safety, quality, cost, or process efficiency.
