Job Description
Equinix, Inc is seeking a Sustainability Manager for its xScale business to align sustainability strategies with global programs. The role involves partnering with internal teams, overseeing sustainability data management, and supporting customer engagement in sustainability efforts. Job Summary
Equinix is hiring a Sustainabiltiy Manager in the Sustainability Program Office to support Equinix's xScale business supporting hyperscale partners and customers with a focus on aligning their sustainability strategy with our global Sustainability program. This individual will report to the VP of Sustainability Technology and will partner with internal teams in support of driving a global sustainability program. Candidates will be familiar with the data center industry, sustainability & regulatory reporting frameworks such CDP, CSRD, GRI, the Greenhouse Gas Protocol, and Science-based Targets initiative) and are comfortable working cross-functionally to drive results. Ideally the candidate is familiar with strategies related the use of renewable energy and associated instruments (Energy Attribute Certificates) to reduce the impacts of data ceneter energy consumption.
Responsibilities
• Partner with internal stakeholders to develop & document the sustainability strategy across each of the xScale Joint Ventures
• Cross-functionally support the execution of the sustainability strategy within the xScale business, including customer engagement strategies and the execution of environmental stewardship efforts
• Support and facilitate data collection and data management of xScale-related sustainability data for inclusion in voluntary and mandatory reporting
• Oversee sustainability requirements and contract language for xScale customers
• Expectation to grow into an expert on data center, real estate and technology-related sustainability topics including deep expertise in technical sustainability concepts
• Grow into a subject-matter expert on key sustainability issues including incoming global ESG regulation, reporting frameworks, and climate initiatives
Qualifications
• 5-7 years of experience in corporate sustainability
• B.S. degree in relevant STEM discipline or equivalent experience (Masters degree preferred)
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to translate complex sustainability topics and datasets into concise and actionable insight across a broad range of audiences
• Working knowledge of sustainability programs specific to energy, environment and emissions (e.g. CDP, CSRD, GRI, The Greenhouse Gas Protocol, Science-based Targets Initiative, etc.)
• Aptitude and excitement to lead various cross-functional workstreams while engaging a variety of teams at different levels
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple workstreams with competing and sometimes urgent deadlines and experience influencing upwards to keep programs and projects moving
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing
